DRAGON FRUIT

Different types of dragon fruit have become more and more popular, meaning that Prime Fresh Handling had to add dragon fruit packaging and shipping to our expertise.

How to Package Dragon Fruit?

  1. Fresh dragon fruit needs to be treated with clean water and dried naturally or with a clean towel to remove moisture from the outside of the fruit before packing it in the nylon bag.
  2. Dragon fruit should be arranged in a carton box with baffles (chambers) so that the fruits are fixed in place and damage can be avoided.
  3. Ensure that the fruit is the correct size, quantity, and weight for each box.
  4. Place the carton boxes with dragon fruit into a crate, then carefully stack the crates to prevent damage.
  5. Use padding, wrapping, packaging paper, and foam to fill the space and prevent movement, ensuring the safest delivery.

It is important to keep the fruit refrigerated at 2.2 degrees Celsius to 4.4 degrees Celsius (36 degrees Fahrenheit to 40 degrees Fahrenheit). Process control and temperature control are key to the export process to ensure the product is kept fresh until delivered.

How to Store Dragon Fruit?

  • Don’t peel or cut the dragon fruit before storing it.
  • Leave your dragon fruit on the counter for 2-3 days.
  • Keep dragon fruit for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
  • If it is already sliced, place the dragon fruit pieces in a sealed container in the refrigerator.

Dragon fruit can be affected by other foods you might have in your fridge, to the point where it can make the fruit taste differently. This is why the fruit should be sealed properly and separately from other foods. If you choose to cut up the fruit, then it will most likely last only a few days, but sprinkling lemon juice over the dragon fruit will slow this process.
